FirstHome Program

In an effort to create more homeownership opportunities for residents, the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) started the FirstHome Program for eligible first-time homebuyers.

Available Assistance
The North Dakota Housing Finance Agency provides affordable mortgage loans to low- to moderate-income first-time homebuyers with the FirstHome Program.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the FirstHome Program, all applicants must be first-time homebuyers; those who have not owned a home (including a manufactured home on a permanent foundation) in the last three years. They must also meet income limits (shown below) that vary based on county and family size. Applicants are expected to meet normal credit underwriting standards and must intend to occupy the property as their principal residence. To qualify for the program, borrowers must also make a minimum contribution of $500 from their own funds.
